Our Humble Beginnings...
It can be said that flour runs through the veins of the Godrich family.
Dating as far back as 1786, we’ve been milling flour for generations – first in Hampshire, England, then in Wickham, and today in South Africa.
In 1899, Harry Godrich joined the Royal Constabulary and made his way to SA to fight in the Anglo-Boer War. After the war, being the second son, there seemed no need to return to England. As he was a qualified millstone sharpener, he was asked to sharpen the stones of a little water mill in the village of Erasmus (now known as Bronkhorspruit).
Over the years, he gradually grew the business into the monolith we know today. Through the advancement of technology and implementation of new, cutting edge machinery, the mill has been expanded and developed to where it is now.
One thing has remained consistent, however, and that is our commitment to producing quality flour.
Our Founders

He began working in the mill and later took over, thus beginning Godrich Mills in 1902. Being a progressive man, he developed the company into a new, steam powered organisation, with the idea of preparing for the future.
He later brought his six children into the business – three of his daughters keeping things running while the boys fought in WW2.
After demobbing, they rejoined the family business, and were fundamental in introducing electricity into their little village, in doing so allowing a new mill to prosper.
Eventually, the third (and fourth!) generation of Godrich brothers began working their way to creating a business they could be proud of – a business that today boasts two fully-automatic flour plants and a fully-automated maize mill.
What we do
Our dynamic operation produces an extensive range of products, including the well-known Fairy Light and Suparich Maize meal.
These are supplied to happy customers throughout JHB, PTA, Limpopo and Mpumalanga (in short, the entire Vaal Triangle).Our substantial fleet of trucks and flour tankers clearly reflect our pride in our family concern.
After all, who wouldn’t be impressed by the statement “Family Millers Since 1902”?
